My name is Raj Rani Chawla, I have been in the UK since the ageof 11.
I now have 3 grown up children of my own.
For the last 10 years I have been wanting to learn to play the
harmonium. My father taught himself, therefore I thought I could do
it as well. I was finding it difficult even to organise some lessons
for myself. For one reason or another I was unable to continue with
my learning.
About a year ago on a visit to America I was inspired by a friend
learning to play music on-line, in fact one of Chhayaji's student. So
last year I got myself organised, fitted myself with the technology
needed to learn on-line, which is gettting myself a pair of headphones
with a microphone. I now have lessons twice a week in the comfort of
my home, at a time that suits me.
I am 61 years of age, so its never too late to learn. I learn at my
own pace, so I'm not competing with others who may be more advanced.
Learning to play music on-line may seem an impossible task for some
people, but it is such a simple concept that I have been able to
master it.
I look forward to my lessons, and there is always the flexibility to
have the lesson at a time that suits us both.
All the best
